Update Coming!
In December I finished a major revision to The Colors of Magic. The rules are clarified, not really changed. I added a quick start section which can both serve as an example for players struggling with creativity and character creation, and an option for people who want to run this as a one shot and not use up half their time on the, admittedly fun as heck, character creation process.
In January I began layout for this revision. I am not a layout artist and I only bought Affinity Publisher a few weeks before I started work on this. It's been slow going because I've been learning how to do layout and how to use the program while I've been doing work. I don't expect this game to sell like gangbusters. It's pretty weird. Not a lot of randomizer less games out there.
But those of you who already owns the game are the lucky ones, because you will get the updated version with almost professional (I hope) layout and better art for free.
Right before I release the updated version, I will be raising the price of the game to $9. If you already own the game, this won't affect you. Newcomers to the game will still get it at a pretty good price.
Games of similar size and length go for about $10-15 for PDF on Kickstarter and DTRPG. But since I'm doing all the work myself in my spare time slowly, and the cost of things like my layout program and the art (no bespoke pieces in the update, but I did buy some stock art, and I've been learning about art selection and style agreement) have been covered by early adopters like you who already own the game, I can offer it at $9.
If you have thoughts about the price, let me know in comments or an email or on Twitter @runagame. This is the only consumer product I've ever made and sold, so I'm open to suggestions.
Best,
Jon
